Tervis’ ‘Star Wars’ Drinkware Uses Unique Decoration (Including Patches Inside Double-Wall Insulation)

Tomorrow, May 4th, is the real Star Wars Day (May the fourth be with you etc.), but since it falls on a Saturday, we can celebrate professionally today, right?

With Disney in charge of the “Star Wars” intellectual property, we know that the merchandise is, to use a terrible pun, out of this world. At the theme parks, visitors can do things like customize a lightsaber to match the one they might actually use in a video game, and much more.

In the promotional products space, there are fun ways to bring in the “Star Wars” universe. Tervis Tumbler Company, North Venice, Florida, just released a special line of its tumblers and drinkware products that would make “Star Wars” fan let out a Wookiee yell of excitement (as long as they’re not, like, in line for the bank or in a library).

A lot of the tumblers feature a wrap decoration placed between the walls of the tumbler, giving it a cool three-dimensional look.

Others have the decoration, like a character’s face or other physical attributes, printed right onto the tumbler using the DuraPrint technology, which also makes it dishwasher-safe, and chip- and peel-resistant.

One of the coolest decorations is on the minimal side, though. It’s a clear tumbler with an “emblem” of Darth Vader’s famous mask, which is actually an embroidered patch placed between the tumbler walls, which creates a look you’d see on a bag or apparel item, but this time it’s on plastic drinkware.

It’s a creative way to bring multiple decoration techniques to a promotional product.

Personally, I think the coolest one is the tumbler that looks like a lightsaber handle, but maybe that’s just because I always had my own Jedi aspirations.

But, the real question for “Star Wars” fans: Are we OK with the Jar-Jar Binks erasure here?
